A rare, lovely and very substantial English Art Nouveau majolica jardiniere produced by Burmantofts, an English manufacturer based in Leeds Art Nouveau circa 1894-1904. Lovely rich majolica tones and a quintessential Art Nouveau stylised water lily pattern. Burmantofts Faience Pottery was only active from 1880-1904, with their jardinieres being quite scarce; we have not seen another one with this particular pattern and rich majolica tones. Pierre Mallet, a French artist who also designed for Minton, contributed a number of designs for Burmantofts.
Price marked at $1550 AUD. Measurements: 32cm dia by 26. cm Excellent antique condition with light wear commensurate with age with age. Burmantofts Faience Pottery and Made in England impressed mark to base, worn but legible.
