Here we have a beautiful Meiji Period ukiyo-e woodblock print depicting a battle between two samurai by Toyohara Kunichika, a student of Utagawa Kunisada and one of the last great ukiyo-e artists in his own right.
He is renowned for his bold depictions and groundbreaking use of bright primary colours using foreign dyes, which was considered a sign of progress and modernity in Meiji Period Japan.
A highly collectible piece, circa later half of the 19th century. Verso on the back from Galerie Du Monde in Hong Kong which specialises in fine art; an upstanding gallery founded in 1974 known for its excellent curation.

Measurements: 43 by 60cm
Very good antique condition. Minor fading to colours but overall crisp and vivid. Light heat to later frame.
