This rare antique New Zealand sterling silver souvenir spoon with nephrite jade handle bears the sponsor’s mark for Joseph Swindell & Son, silversmiths in Christchurch whose partnership was active from 1880-1905. Nephrite is native to New Zealand amongst other countries and has been prized throughout time for its beauty and rich green shade. Inscribed “NZ” in beautiful cursive to the bowl for New Zealand and lovely Maori motif to the handle.
