Antique Meiji Period Japanese ivory Geisha okimono
Antique Meiji Period Japanese ivory Geisha okimono
This lovely antique, late 19th to early 20th century Geisha okimono is likely circa the Meiji Period. Unsigned but clearly a quality piece with excellent attention to detail.
The cords on her obi and even the star, possibly maple leaf details on her kimono are all exquisitely done. But the spokes on her parasol are clearly the light, with each detail delicately carved and in excellent condition.
Beautiful and intricately carved robes with graceful pose. Her accessories, knotted belt and hair pin are all carved nicely as well, down to the knots in her Shimada hairstyle.
Price marked at $1150 AUD.
Measurements: 10 cm tall, base measurements 4.5 by 3 cm.
Several stable hairline cracks commensurate with antique ivory age; please refer to photos for details. Some yellowing commensurate with antique ivory.
