A charming antique Japanese Meiji Period cinnabar lacquer box, carved with a lovely knot work pattern to the top. The intensive processes used to create and then carve lacquerware make pieces such as these very desirable- these would be of export quality during the 19th century and in this rich red colouration, still highly collectible today.
