Lovely Edo period late 18th to early 19th century Japanese porcelain shallow bowl, hand-painted with underglaze cobalt blue decoration of a mountain and sea scene. The edge is decorated with cherry blossoms against a cobalt blue background. The reverse is decorated with elegant brush strokes. The porcelain body is white and of fine quality, the glaze is equally fine, overall the plate is of fine quality and with a light orange peel texture. The sides of the plate are slightly ridged to create a lobed effect.

We have 4 of these plates available; each of them varies slightly due to the hand-painted and antique nature of these piece. 


Price marked at $120 AUD each. We have seen comparable designs sold by reputable overseas dealers at $400 USD a plate. 

Measurements: 22.5 plate dia, 4cm high.

Excellent antique condition, minor firing flaws, minor wear to base commensurate with age.
