Antique early to mid 19th century English Blue Willow pattern plate, early Staffordshire, attrib. John Meir & Sons
Antique early to mid 19th century English Blue Willow pattern plate, early Staffordshire, attrib. John Meir & Sons
A particularly fine and desirable example of an early English Blue Willow pattern, dating early to mid 19th century. Many early pieces such as this one are unmarked, but based upon research we believe this to be an early piece by Staffordshire manufacturers John Meir & Sons who were active in partnership from 1837-1844. A nicely done piece exhibiting the classic Blue Willow motifs of two swallows, 3 figures crossing the bridge and the pagodas in the background.
Price marked at $120 AUD.
Measurements: 21.5cm diameter, 3.5 cm height.
Excellent antique condition. Minor firing flaws to base and mild wear commensurate with age.
