A beautiful George II sterling silver tablespoon, with marks for James Wilks, London, 1746. Crested with a finely engraved coronet. Wilks was active from 1742-1755 and was known for the quality of his flatware.
The coronet as well as the substantial, well-crafted nature of this spoon indicates that this was used by a peer of the realm; which one, however, is a mystery yet unresolved.
