Canton Export Rose Medallion Tea Cup and Saucer Set circa 1915-1950

With luminous colours and a densely packed pattern, this is a charming vintage example of a Cantonese rose medallion tea cup.

Known in Chinese as 粉彩, these translucent enamels are rendered in pastel shades and were carefully applied by hand. This was produced circa 1915-1950 in a beautiful “Mille Butterfly” variation on the rose medallion pattern. With an intricate butterfly pattern to the cup and saucer border, this is a beautiful and collectible piece.

Condition: One chip to saucer, not visible when displayed if turned to back.
