A desirable Art Deco hand-enamelled rooster or cockerel crystal and silver-plated cocktail shaker, circa 1930s. Cockfighting was a popular motif in the Art Deco period, referring to the now outlawed sport. Nevertheless as rooster-themed barware, these pieces remain highly collectible. Companies in both England and France produced these during the Art Deco period, with the most famous of these being Stuart.

While this particular piece is unsigned, the quality of the enamelling and the beautifully executed crystal body with Bristol glass and gilt base indicates it is likely of British origin, and based on research as well as similar pieces (Golledge, Stuart's Archivist notes enamelled cockfighting scenes in the 1929 pattern book) attributed to Stuart.

Due to the age of the cork, we would advise limited to careful usage, but this would make an excellent statement piece for any Art Deco or barware aficionado.

Price marked at $350 AUD.

Measurements: 25cm height.

Excellent vintage near antique condition. Minor gilt wear to base. Minor wear to cork commensurate with age.
