Antique William IV sterling silver serving spoon by Mary Chawner

A large antique William IV sterling silver serving spoon with marks for London, 1834, Mary Chawner. The wife of William Chawner II, she took over the business and ensured the continuation of the Chawner silvermaking dynasty until it was later taken overly her son-in-law George Adams. Hence she was only active for 6 years from 1834 to 1840, making pieces by her highly collectible as well as fine examples of antique silver in their own right.

This particular spoon dates to her first year of work.
