An elegant crested William IV sterling silver butter spreader with marks for London, 1830, William Eaton. Active from 1813 to 1844, William Eaton used this mark from 1828 to 1844. From 1830 onwards he specialised in spoon making, this being an early example of his work. Upon his death in 1856 his widow and son, Elizabeth and John Eaton, would later continue his work and establish the Eaton family as silversmiths of note.

Engraved to handle with crest of a demi-lion.

Measurements: 68 grams, cm length.

Excellent antique condition with minor wear overall commensurate with age. Marks well-struck, lightly rubbed but legible.
