Amazing antique Republic period 1 Yuan coin circa 1914 in period Chinese export silver setting by noted Shanghai retail silversmith Tuck Chang, with the warlord Yuan Shi Kai on the obverse of coin. Colloquially known in the West as “Fatman Dollars”, these are highly desirable and collectible, with the 1914 variety being particularly rare.

Hallmarked to the setting Tuck Chang, a renowned Shanghai retail silversmith. Active from 1870 to 1920, Tuck Chang was the most popular Shanghai retail silversmiths and was the go-to for elites, international sporting establishments and the like.

Beautifully made, this trinket dish features a bamboo border as well as hand-hammered details to the body of the dish.

Measurements: 8.5cm diameter, 59.3 grams.

Very good antique condition with rubbing to the coin and overall as pictured; thick gauge.
