An exceptional early to mid 19th century Davenport serving plate with hand-painted floral motifs and gilded details. By the early 19th century, Davenport was producing porcelain to rival other notable potteries such as Derby. This elegant design with side scrolling long-stemmed florals is a fine example of their work.

This particular overglaze printed mark appears on porcelains in black circa 1815 to 1830, with later versions in blue circa 1840. This puce variation is highly unusual, but it appears that there was a great variance in printed marks until 1850. We therefore conservatively estimate this piece to be early to mid 19th century, between the 1820s to late 30s. A rare and incredibly collectible statement piece.
