Stunning antique French .950 silver ladle circa 1868 to 1888 with marks for Ernest Compere, Paris. Ernest Compere entered his marks at 79 rue Quincampoix, and after his death his widow Leonie continued the business. His work was finely done and items from the Compere firm such as this ladle boast both style and quality.
1st Minerva mark indicating .950 silver purity used circa 1838-1973, as well as the running rabbit mark of Compere. Monogrammed initials within cartouche to the back of handle of the period.
Price marked at $1350 AUD.
Measurements: 33.2cm length, 224.2 grams.
Thick gauge and crisp well-struck marks; light rubbing to Minerva mark but still legible. Excellent antique condition with light wear overall commensurate with age.
