This lovely EPNS set of three (teapot, sugar bowl and creamer jug) would make a lovely present for any tea aficionado or even an everyday set for someone who wants a little extra beauty in their life. This particular set bears strong characteristics of the Aesthetic Movement that swept Britain circa 1860 through to the 1900s; we believe that this particular piece is probably circa 1880 to early 1900s. As a reaction against the pollution brought about by the Industrial Revolution, artists of the time demanded a return to simpler times- “Art for Art’s Sake”. These lovely pieces, with hammered finished and almost naively done berry motif details, certainly live up to that motto. In a world full of complications, the simple joy brought by beholding something beautiful should definitely be cherished. This silver-plated (EPNS) set is very moderately priced at $300AUD. It is in excellent antique condition.
