This enamel painted sterling silver and marcasite compact has some patina to it, but in our opinion this adds to its charm.
Assay marks for Birmingham 1933, HC Freeman Ltd. Henry Charles Freeman was a noted silversmiths and retailer in Hatton Garden, London. Founded in the late Victorian period, the Freeman name was a mark of good taste and excellent quality; they also imported small luxury goods from Europe, but this particular piece is a fine example of British sterling silver.
Price marked at $400 AUD.
Measurements: 9.5 cm diameter. Total weight 115 grams.
Condition: Some wear and yellowing to powder coating as seen; creates an almost ivory-like patina. One cracked marcasite as pictured.
Interior wear commensurate with age and use.
