Antique Edwardian Era Sterling Silver Vesta Case
This vesta bears an inscription for the "Stock Exchange of Adelaide Walk July 23rd, 1903".
This was the prize for 3rd place and was won by Robert Bruce who walked a distance of 14 miles, 3 chains in 2 hours, 36 metres and 35 seconds.
Walking competitions were highly in vogue during the Victorian era.
Some denting to the back of the vesta but otherwise in good condition with clear inscriptions. Some wear to hallmarks. Hallmarks indicate that this was made in 1901, in Chester and was made by William Neale.
Sterling weight of 44 grams.
Measurements: Approximately 5.5 cm by 5.5 cm.
