Beautiful early 19th century Machin “Moustache” rose and daffodil plate, hand-painted circa 1820s during the Regency period. This style is affectionately called “Moustache” by collectors due to the shape of the moulding, and also features a rich cobalt blue ground with gilt details, as well as a central floral motif.
Joseph Machin was active in Stoke on Trent circa 1810s to 1830s; while much of his work was not documented, his dessert services were highly popular and these are an excellent example of his work.
Hand-painted iron red mark “692” to base.
Price marked at $300 AUD.
Measurements: 21.5cm plate diameter.
Very good antique condition with light wear commensurate with age.
