An elegant sterling silver pendant with marks for Chester, 1937, Thomas James Skelton a jeweller who was active from 1909 to 1961 on Vyse Street, Birmingham. Bail also marked with lion passant for sterling silver.


Intriguingly engraved “In Honour// 28th Anniversary// Chinese Republic// 1939”, referring to the successful Xinhai Revolution of 1911 which overthrew dynastic rule in China which had spanned millennia. and directly led to the founding of the Republic of China in 1912. A fascinating piece which commemorates the early years of China’s Republic.

Measurements: 8 grams total weight including bail. 2.7cm medal diameter.
