Lovely crested Victorian English provincial silver sauce ladle with marks for Exeter, 1856, John Stone. A prolific maker, he was active from 1825 to 1860. His premises were originally on New Bridge Street, and later from 1855 onwards on Exeter’s charming High Street.
Engraved with crest depicting a lion rampant, symbolising bravery and strength. The ladle is of lovely quality, very thick gauge and double-struck.
Price marked at $1500 AUD.
Measurements: 89 grams total weight, 16.5cm length.
Very good antique condition with minor wear overall commensurate with age. Marks crisp and well-struck.
