A superb crested George III footed sterling silver bowl with marks for London, 1812, Samuel Hennell. Hennell was active from 1811 to 1823, and was part of the prestigious Hennell silversmithing dynasty. Today the Hennell legacy is carried on by Frazer & Haws and Hennell of Bond Street, which boasts Princess Diana, the Maharaja of Nepal and other heads of state among their clients.
Hand-raised with thick gauge, this has all the hallmarks of quality with planished details to base, a richly gilded interior and beaded detail to rim.
Engraved with the Beeston family crest, which depicts a gauntleted arm embowed holding a sword, issuant from a tower.
Price marked at $8000 AUD.
Measurements: 384 grams total weight, 9cm length, 15cm diameter.
Very good antique condition with minor wear overall commensurate with age. Minimal wear to gilt. Marks crisp and well-struck.
