Crested George III sterling silver creamer jug and sugar bowl set
No se pudo cargar la disponibilidad de retiro
A beautifully crafted crested George III sterling silver creamer jug and sugar bowl set of substantial size, with marks for London 1808, James Ede & Alexander Hewat.
The crest depicts a lion’s head above the coat of arms which likely represents two families, likely celebrating a marriage between two members of the gentry. One side is that of the Wallers of Prior Park. Research remains ongoing and we welcome input from our learned colleagues. The inscription below reads ‘Spes Mea in Deo” which is Latin for “My hope is in God”.
The set is stunning with beaded border details, basketweave trim and scalloped feet.
Price marked at $4000 AUD the set.
Measurements: 401 grams (sugar bowl), 247 grams (creamer jug). 648 grams.
Minor wear overall commensurate with age, gilt loss to interior of creamer jug, Marks crisp and clear overall, sponsor mark lightly rubbed.
