A beautiful antique Victorian sterling silver christening set, comprising a spoon, knife and fork with marks for London, 1846, Francis Higgins.
Well-made with repousse details to the weighted handles and shell-form motif, their exceptional quality showcases the skills of one of the leading silversmiths in the Victorian period. Higgins was a specialist flatware maker of great prominence, who supplied the great firms Hunt & Roskell as well as R&S Garrard & Co.
His work is found in museums such as the Victoria & Albert, and remains highly sought after by collectors today.
