Antique English sterling silver and citrine stag brooch

Here we have a beautiful sterling silver and citrine brooch with marks for 1918, Chester, Adie & Lovekin Ltd. Adie & Lovekin were Birmingham manufacturers whose partnership was first registered in 1883 and was active until 1928; their premises were on Frederick Street, Birmingham.

An elegant stag motif reminiscent of the Scottish Highlands craze which swept Victorian England in the 1850s to 1860s, and which, bearing the Chester assay mark, is all the more rare as the Chester assay office closed in 1962.

Excellent antique condition with minor wear overall commensurate with age, marks crisp and clear. Base metal pin with antique C clasp.
