Antique American sterling silver neo-classical bread basket by J.E. Caldwell

Beautiful antique American sterling silver neo-classical bread basket by landmark jeweller and silversmith J.E. Caldwell & Co. of Philadelphia, circa last quarter of 19th century (1875 to 1900). J.E. Caldwell was a premier name in American jewellery for over 160 years, and was active primarily from 1839 to 2009. 

A very elegant shape with exquisite beaded detail to rim, this piece is a lovely example of American silverware by a master American silversmith.

Measurements: 29cm by 15.5cm base measurements, 6cm at highest point, 242 grams.

Thick gauge, excellent antique condition with minor wear overall commensurate with age, marks well-struck.
