Unusual and rare High Victorian sterling silver master salt, John Evans II

A beautiful High Victorian sterling silver master salt with marks for London, 1847, John Evans II (active from 1836 to 1862). Beautifully made, with repousse work throughout including a Victorian take on the winged sun motif and three figural hooved feet in the shape of turbaned heads. Initials in script of the period to cartouche. A rare and unusual piece that speaks to the Victorian fascination with cultures of antiquity.

Excellent antique condition, with light wear overall commensurate with age. Script monogram rubbed, silver marks crisp and clear.
