Pair of early George III sterling silver salt cellars by George Rous

A beautiful pair of early George III sterling silver salt cellars with marks for London 1762, George Rous who was a prolific salts maker active from 1748 to 1762.

Very well-made with shell-form legs and pad feet, gilt interiors and thick gauge.

Price marked at $1000 AUD the pair.

Measurements: 6cm bowl opening diameter, 3.7cm height. 103.8 grams weight.

Excellent antique condition with one minor ding to underside of one salt cellar. Minor wear to gilt. Marks lightly rubbed but well-struck.
