A large and impressive antique Victorian Barnard Brothers sterling silver sugar bowl, with marks for London 1840, Edward, Edward Jr. & John & William Barnard. Substantial and thick gauge, with all cartouches blank and gilt interior.
One of the most prominent silver dynasties in English history, the Barnard silver firm was commissioned by Queen Victoria to create the Lily font, a large silver gilt baptismal font used in the christening services of members of the British Royal family.
