Antique Song dynasty Qingbai dish

A lovely Song dynasty Qingbai dish,  circa 960 to 1127 AD. The beautiful white glaze with blue tones and its rich patina, speaks to this piece being nearly a 1000 years old. This dipping bowl has an elegant simplicity characteristic of Song Qingbai Ware, and features a thinly potted body characteristic of Qinghai ware, as well as a biscuit coloured body which can be seen to the top rim of the dish, as well as areas of the base where the glaze did not reach during firing, as is typical of Song dynasty pieces.

The below reference is an excellent guide to differentiating different pieces of Song dynasty pottery, as well as indicating the difficulty in distinguishing pieces with high visual overlap, as is the case with certain pieces of Song celadon and Qinghai ware.

Measurements: 13cm approx. diameter, 3 cm height.

Some wear overall,  commensurate with age; tiny fleabites to rim and base. Minor firing flaws as well as some staining and crazing as pictured. This would be excellent antique condition considering the age of Song porcelain. Old provenance level to base.
