Beautiful antique pair of sterling silver George III tongs with marks for 1798, George Smith II & Thomas Hayter who were active in London from 1791 to 1804. Monogram of the period with lovely floral bright-cut techniques.
Their work remains highly prized for their innovative design and engraving techniques, with examples in the Victoria & Albert Museum, London.
