This William IV sterling silver meat skewer circa 1836 is a rare piece of provincial English silver, sure to delight any serious collector. 

William Rawlings Sobey was a well regarded West Country silversmith; based in Exeter, he was active from 1833 to 1852. He was known for his flatware, of which this is a fine example. 

A crested piece which depicts a gentleman in side profile.

Price marked at $2000 AUD.

Measurements: Weight 74.7 grams, Approx 30 cm length. Marks for William Rawlings Sobey, 1836, Exeter. 

Very good antique condition, with light wear commensurate with age and use. Some wear to marks as pictured.
