A rare example of antique Scottish provincial silver, this pair of mustard spoons are marked for Aberdeen, 1854, George Jamieson.

Jamieson was active c. 1840-1874, and was known for using London Assay Office marks in conjunction with the Aberdeen assay mark as seen on both pieces here. He collaborated with several notable firms including Elkington & Co as well as Hayne & Cater of London, the latter of which he acted as a retailer of their silverware and often his mark (GJ) accompanied their "SH over DC" maker’s mark, which can also be seen here. These pieces therefore demonstrate several characteristics that distinguish his pieces from other Scottish makers at the time.

These Aberdeen pieces are a lovely example of the austere craftsmanship signature of true Scottish provincial silver, which is extremely rare and collectible.

Price marked at $800AUD for the pair or $450AUD each.

Measurements: 32grams total, approx. 16g each. 12cm length.

Very good antique condition. Some wear to marks but still legible.
