This monumental Edwardian sterling silver tray is one of the largest pieces of presentation silver we have come across. With marks for William Mammatt & Son, Sheffield, 1905, this is an excellent example of Edwardian glamour when the British Empire was still at the apogee of its power.

“A leisurely time when women wore picture hats and did not vote, when the rich were not ashamed to live conspicuously, and the sun really never set on the British flag." ~Samuel Hynes.

Not only does this weigh in at over 2.9 kilos of hallmarked English sterling silver, but the design overall is exquisitely engraved with foliate scrolls, floral and botanical motifs. This really has to be seen in person to be appreciated; not many pre-war silver pieces of this size survived the following years of hardship, making this all the more rare and exquisite.

Price marked at $15,000 AUD.
Measurements: 63 by 38cm base measurements. 2911 grams.
Excellent antique condition. Minimal wear overall and hallmarks are crisp. This piece has been carefully kept in exquisite condition; only superficial wear to feet and base suggests age
