This rare and stunning antique Gouda Dutch Art Pottery inkwell desk set was produced circa 1900-1930s by one of the most significant producer in the region, PZH; otherwise known as Plateelfabriek Zuid Holland.
With semi-matte glaze and a signature Gouda abstract floral Kelat pattern in polychrome enamel, this lovely piece is potentially missing its ceramic covers but its glass liners remain intact.
Gouda pottery and in particular PZH’s rarity only increased after World War I and II, with many factories either destroyed or damaged. They are particularly valued in Australia with Gouda aficionados including former Australian PM Trevor Kennedy.
Date code for approximately 1920 handpainted on the bottom; possible misspelling of date code but style and pattern all correspond to early 1920s for manufacture. Marks also to base for pattern and design number (Kelat 643), decorator initials and Lazarus house signature of the PZH factory. Gouda double inkwell desk sets simply do not come onto the market, and this is likely the only one currently available in this pattern.

Good antique condition; possible missing tops but unsure as this object is as-found. Some wear and light chips to left inkwell compartment top rim.
