An elegant set of late Georgian to Regency period provincial sterling silver tongs. Made in a lovely bright-cut pattern by Dorothy Langlands who was active from 1804 to 1814 after the death of her husband John Langlands II, with assay marks for Newcastle. Dorothy married John Langlands II, whose family were the most prominent silversmiths in Newcastle-upon-Tyne  Classified as both a goldsmith and a jeweller, she was active until 1814 and remains among the best-known of the silversmiths from Newcastle-upon-Tyne. A rare bit of provincial English silver.

Measurements: 25.4 grams.

Good antique condition. Crisp sponsor’s and town mark, year mark is rubbed.
