This lovely midcentury Jingdezhen Porcelain Factory ginger jar features the signature Jingdezhen style enamels as well as ruyi and stylised flower patterns. Hand painted domestic scenes further add to its charm. This is an extremely rare example of an Amoy Canning Corporation ginger jar, a Hong Kong based factory founded in 1908. The Amoy Company was first referred as the Amoy Canning Corporation sometime in the 1940s; an advertisement featuring similar paper labels such as this one was released in 1947. We have not found another version of this with the medallion lid.
The porcelain mark indicates this to be made in Jiangxi Jingdezhen Reputable Porcelain No.5 factory, which hearkens to the Cultural Revolution era practice of factory collectivisation. This would date to the Early People’s Republic period (1949-1966); this piece is therefore likely circa 1949 to 50s.

Excellent vintage condition, light wear commensurate with age, some fade to glaze. Paper tag extremely worn but Amoy Canning Corporation and Ginger caption still legible.
