We have an a very lovely, very rare antique Chinese silver ginger jar. It features beautiful repousse work with botanical motifs, as well as insect motifs such as a spiderweb and butterfly, blending traditional Chinese courting motifs with Victorian tastes, all the while showcasing impeccable silversmithing techniques.

There is damage to the feet- at some point someone removed the wrought silver base of two feet. Still displays well. In our opinion, this was most likely produced between 1870-1910.

Marks most likely for Hong Yuan or 洪垣.
