Fine antique Chinese export silver trumpet vase with dragon soaring amongst cloud motif. Repousse clouds and pierced silver design; this is a piece that honestly speaks for itself. Stamped .90 silver purity standard and MH, actually W.H. Wang Hing is one of the great makers of Chinese export silver and this piece certainly proves it.
According to Von Ferscht’s definitive book on Chinese export silver (pg, 293), this stamp can be attributed to Wang Hing (Canton and Hong Kong, 1854-1941). Chinese silversmiths would occasionally strike the letters upside down as they were unfamiliar with the Latin alphabet.
