In 1974, Gieve would acquire the saddlery maker Hawkes; Gieves \u0026amp; Hawkes remain a symbol of old-world luxury, providing bespoke tailoring to the creme de la creme of European society at their Savile Row premises. These epaulettes are an excellent example of Gieve’s early work, with heavy antique gold bullion throughout. The tin too is beautifully lined in plush red velvet.
