Antique Japanese export silver butter spreader by Bisansha 美産舎, Yokohama
Beautiful Japanese export silver butter spreader with marks for Bisansha 美産舎and 銀製(ginsei, i.e. made from silver), likely circa 1900s to 1920s. Little research in English is to be found on this Yokohama-based firm, but they produced many fine piece circa late 19th to early 20th century. This butter spreader showcases the firm’s artistry, with beautiful planished details and a repousse dragon motif on the handle.
Tests as silver between .900 to .950 in purity.
