This 19th century Dutch silver spice tower is a truly remarkable example of European craftsmanship.

Various techniques have been used to create this figural windmill; intricately detailed vanes, filigree ropes and delicately etched windows and doors make this a truly lifelike piece. 6 tiny figures clustered at the base of the windmill and a flag that 'waves' in the breeze complete this charming scene.

Best of all, the top lifts off and within is a compartment for your favourite spices. In olden times spices were rare and exotic commodities that were often literally worth their weight in gold. Nowadays, this is still a beautiful piece to store your favourite gourmet blend.

Condition: This piece is in excellent antique condition with one flaw; the silver ropes at the back of the windmill look to have separated. This may have been potentially deliberately done in order to increase the realism of the piece, but is mentioned for the sake of full disclosure.

 Weight: 101 grams

17cm height x 10cm width x 6 cm depth (widest part of windmill)
